The Helmand River swelled throughout the years prompting the need for Operation Golden Gate in the Sangin District of Helmand province, Afghanistan. The operation calls for a bridge more than 150 feet long and 24 feet wide to be placed across the Helmand River to allow a better form of transportation for the local people.
