Commanding Officer Biography
Captain Dalby, John A.

John A. Dalby was born into a Navy family in Honolulu, Hawaii on 5 Oct 1980. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps on 23 May 2003 from the U.S. Naval Academy. He reported to The Basic School and graduated from Fox Company in March 2004 and from the Infantry Officers’ Course in June 2004. 

In July 2004, 2ndLt Dalby reported to 3d Battalion, 8th Marines as a Platoon Commander, Company L.   He deployed to Al-Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 4-06 from January to August 2005.  He was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant on 23 May 2005.  Upon returning from Iraq, he assumed the billet of Company Executive Officer, H&S Company where he deployed to Ar-Ramadi, Iraq in support of OIF 5-07.1 from March to September 2006. 

In June 2007, 1stLt Dalby was assigned to the 3d Recruit Training Battalion (RTBn), MCRD Parris Island, SC where he served as a Series Commander and Company XO for Kilo and Quebec Company.  He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 July 2007.  In June 2008, he assumed command of Company I, 3d RTBn.  In June 2009, Capt Dalby assumed command of Drill Instructor School where he served as the Director of DI School from June 2009 to May 2010.

Capt Dalby attended the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course from June to December 2010 at Fort Benning, GA, graduating with honors and earning the Col(Ret) Ralph Puckett Leadership Award.  In January 2011, Capt Dalby reporting to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines and assumed command of Company F.  He deployed with the 31^st MEU as the Small Boat Company and took part in EXERCISE RAIDER DAWN 2011 in Darwin, Australia and PHIBLEX 2012 in Palawan, Philippines.  Upon returning from the 31^st MEU, he was transferred to Weapons Company to serve as the Company Commander and Fire Support Coordinator.   

Capt Dalby’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. 

First Sergeant Biography
1stSgt Clark, Dana M.

Gunnery Sergeant Clark was born July 25, 1969.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program on May 11, 1987 in Boise, Idaho and reported to Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, in January 1988.  Upon graduation, he was promoted meritoriously to Private First Class and reported to Expeditionary Airfields School at Naval Air Engineering Center, Lake Hurst, New Jersey.  After completion of the course, he reported to Station Operations and Maintenance Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona.  While there, he was promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal and Corporal.   Corporal Clark separated from the Marine Corps in January 1992.

In September 1996, Lance Corporal Clark re-enlisted into the Marine Corps and attended Aircraft Avionics Technician Schools at Naval Air Station Millington, Tennessee, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.  He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 01 February, 1997. Upon graduation, Corporal Clark was ordered to Marine Attack Squadron 311, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona for duty as an Aircraft Avionics Technician on the AV8B Harrier. Corporal Clark was promoted to Sergeant on 01 March 1998. In May 1999, Sergeant Clark deployed with the Thirty First Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) in support of Operations Southern Watch and Desert Fox. Sergeant Clark was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 01 February, 2001. In August 2001, Staff Sergeant Clark deployed with the Fifteenth Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) in support of Operations Stabilize and Enduring Freedom.

In September 2002, Staff Sergeant Clark was ordered to Marine Corps Security Force Supervisors Course, Naval Support Activity, Norfolk, Virginia.  Upon graduation, he was ordered to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington. While there, Staff Sergeant Clark served as a Section Leader, Platoon Operations Chief, and Platoon Sergeant. Staff Sergeant Clark was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 01 April 2004.

In August 2005, Gunnery Sergeant Clark reported to Marine Attack Squadron 214, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona for duty as an Aircraft Avionics Technician. In March 2005, Gunnery Sergeant Clark deployed with the Eleventh Marine Expeditionary unit (Special Operations Capable) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. September 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Clark was transferred to Marine Attack Squadron 513 where he served as the Aircraft Avionics SNCOIC.  In December of 2007 Gunnery Sergeant Clark deployed to Okinawa Japan in support of the Thirty First Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and participated in Exercise Balakatan (Republic of the Philippines) 2008.

 First Sergeant Clark was promoted to his current rank on 01 July of 2008 and reported to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Battery P, Fifth Battalion, Fourteenth Marines, Spokane, WA in September of 2008. First Sergeant Clark assumed the duties of Company First Sergeant, Company G on 14 March 2012.

First Sergeant Clark’s personal awards include: Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of forth award and the Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
