Lieutenant Col. Timothy M. Bairstow, commanding officer, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, and a native of New York is presented an American flag by Anthony Beall, the mayor of Rancho Santa Margarita, as a gift from the city to honor 2nd Bn., 5th Marines, during an annual Patriots' Day event here, Sept. 15, 2013. More than 125 Marines with the battalion were onhand to showcase Marine Corps equipment and life in the military. The celebration honored  military veterans and the lives lost in the wake of Sept. 11.
