Private First Class Donald Bachert, a field wireman with Regimental Combat Team 7, works at the communications help desk and assists Marines with network and phone issues. Bachert, a 20-year-old native of Groveland, Fla., joined the Corps because he wanted to be remembered as someone who did something good with his life, but he found more than that.
"I went from being a civilian and having one friend that I know would take a bullet for me, to having almost everyone I know willing to," Bachert said. "The brotherhood is an amazing thing that you can only experience as a Marine."

Editor's note: This article is part of a series wherein every week we recognize an individual Marine or sailor with Regimental Combat Team 7. The Marines and sailors of RCT-7 are dedicated, disciplined and driven to accomplish the mission, and the Marine in this article has earned special recognition for standing out among these professionals. Be sure to check every week to see who will be honored as the latest Marine of the Week.
