A bulldozer pushes up dirt Aug. 13 to create a berm along the Iraq and Syrian border in order to control people crossing the border illegally. Marines with Support Platoon, Company A, 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 5 added approximately 30,000 yards of berm to the border, which now stretches along the entire Iraq and Syrian border. The purpose of the berm is to alleviate pressure on the Iraqi Security Forces and allow them to grow and become more established so they can better protect the people.
