  • On 8 September 2017, 3d AABn Commanding Officer, Sergeant Major, and color guard travelled to Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston to award Marine Corps veteran Corporal Randy D. Mann the Navy and Marine Medal for actions while serving at 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion in July of 2013. Mr.Mann put his own life at risk to save two fellow Marines during training in Camp Pendleton, California.

Marines have been stationed at the police station since the beginning of the deployment, supporting Iraqi police and helping the progress operationaly.
