  • On 8 September 2017, 3d AABn Commanding Officer, Sergeant Major, and color guard travelled to Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston to award Marine Corps veteran Corporal Randy D. Mann the Navy and Marine Medal for actions while serving at 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion in July of 2013. Mr.Mann put his own life at risk to save two fellow Marines during training in Camp Pendleton, California.

Afghan National Army Sgt. Dunya Gul, a squad leader with 2nd Tolai, 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 215th Corps, coaches ANA Pvt. Sefatala, a rifleman with Weapons Tolai, 3rd Kandak, during advanced marksmanship training here, Feb. 25. The top shooters from 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 215th Corps, were selected to learn precision shooting from scout snipers with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment. The Marines chose the best students to serve as marksmanship instructors and pass on their new skills to other Afghan soldiers.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE EDINBURGH, Afghanistan - Afghan National Army Sgt. Dunya Gul, a squad leader with 2nd Tolai, 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 215th Corps, coaches ANA Pvt. Sefatala, a rifleman with Weapons Tolai, 3rd Kandak, during advanced marksmanship training here, Feb. 25. The top shooters from 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 215th Corps, were selected to learn precision shooting from scout snipers with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment. The Marines chose the best students to serve as marksmanship instructors and pass on their new skills to other Afghan soldiers.
