  • On 8 September 2017, 3d AABn Commanding Officer, Sergeant Major, and color guard travelled to Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston to award Marine Corps veteran Corporal Randy D. Mann the Navy and Marine Medal for actions while serving at 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion in July of 2013. Mr.Mann put his own life at risk to save two fellow Marines during training in Camp Pendleton, California.

REYGION, Helmand province, Afghanistan - 1st Lt. Matt T. Perry, 2nd Platoon commander, Weapons Co., 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, reports back to headquarters during a two-day operation here, recently. Perry, a native of Slidell, La., and 2008 graduate of Louisiana State University, led a squad of Afghans and Marines. They secured their first objective after interacting with the residents and searching compounds for illegal activity.
