An AV-8B Harrier jet prepares for take off aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, Sept. 30. The Harrier will deploy with elements of Marine Aircraft Group 13 with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in December. The pilots are using ship availability during Exercise Dawn Blitz to complete their aircraft qualifications before they deploy. Unlike other services who conduct expeditions in response to known situations, the Navy-Marine Corps team is forward deployed and always prepared to respond to a wide variety of potential missions at anytime.
