Camp Pendleton - On 8 June 2022, the 1st Marine Division said farewell to MajGen. Roger B. Turner, Jr. who served as the commanding general of the Blue Diamond since September of 2020 and welcomed the oncoming commanding general, MajGen. Benjamin T. Watson. This change of command ceremony represents the transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability between the oncoming and outgoing commanding generals. As MajGen. Turner said goodbye to the Blue Diamond, he stated his appreciation for the division by saying "I never posed a challenge to the 1st Marine Division personnel that they couldn't fix or couldn't make happen." MajGen. Watson voiced his excitement about coming back to the 1st Marine Division stating that, “it’s an honor and a privilege to be back here at the Blue Diamond.” Fair winds and following seas in your next assignment, MajGen. Turner! Welcome aboard MajGen. Watson!
