Mann the Navy and Marine Medal for actions while serving at 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion in July of 2013. Mr.Mann put his own life at risk to save two fellow Marines during training in Camp Pendleton, California.

Patrick Hilty, staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, discusses the properties of an improvised explosive device (IED) made from a pressure cooker during counter IED training at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti Jan. 10, 2014. Approximately 50 Marines assigned to Charlie Company, 13th MEU completed counter IED training, which covered a wide variety of techniques to defeat enemy IEDs. The 13th MEU is deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
