Mann the Navy and Marine Medal for actions while serving at 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion in July of 2013. Mr.Mann put his own life at risk to save two fellow Marines during training in Camp Pendleton, California.

Marines with Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment set up communication assets after conducting Military Operations in Urban Terrain in a simulated combat town by using M1161 Internally Transportable Vehicles during the first phase of a Limited Objective Experiment aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 13, 2015. The experiment is comprised of  the integration of ITVs with infantry units to provide the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory with an understanding of how the vehicles will be added to the battalions. The second part of the experiment will take place at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., which will provide the Marines with extensive amounts of terrain to test the vehicles’ capabilities over a 3-week training period.
