U.S. contracted instructor Jesse Pickerill displays an example detonation device to Marines with Headquarters Company, Regimental Combat Team 7 as part of counter improvised explosive device (IED) training at Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Afghanistan, Oct. 15, 2012. The counter IED training familiarized the Marines with fundamentals to include: unexploded ordnance recognition, enemy tactics, homemade explosives, threat detection, ground signs awareness, and downed vehicle procedures.
