Corporal Manuel Ortiz, a team leader with 3rd Platoon, Lima Company, patrols through Sangin Feb. 26. 2012. Ortiz, currently deployed with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, used this deployment to train the younger Marines. As a team leader, Ortiz gave his Marines additional responsibility while overseeing their progress. Ortiz trained his Marines to fill his shoes after he leaves the squad.
