Sergeant Jordan Nguyen, a food service specialist with the Georgian Liaison Team, 32nd Georgian Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 7, poses with his fellow food service specialists before they begin cooking for the Marine and Georgian soldiers, Mar. 11, 2013. Nguyen, a 23-year-old native of McMinnville, Ore., used what he called patience and charades to train the Georgians on preparing meals and how to make enough food for everyone on base. "He has taught them everything," said Cpl. Jose Avila, a food service specialist with Combat Logistics Regiment 2. "He taught them so well they can do everything without him now." Nguyen overcame language barriers and cultural differences to move on to a new task he enjoys, serving as a turret gunner. The GLT runs numerous logistics convoys to nearby bases and Nguyen is happy to be a part of it. "He's a very hard worker," said Rivas, a 20-year-old native of Trenton, NJ. "He always wants to go on the combat missions, and he loves being on the road." "It has been great," Nguyen said. "I love going on the convoys, and I am glad I got the chance to do this."
