Major Lemons is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, and completed Officer Candidate School in June 2002. Upon graduation from the University of Houston in December of 2002, he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. In May 2003, Major Lemons reported to The Basic School, Charlie Company, graduating in November 2003, and subsequently attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
In April 2004, Major Lemons checked into Battery B, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, in Kaneohe Bay, Hi. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in February of 2005. In June 2005, he deployed with Company E, 2d Battalion, 3d Marines as a Forward Observer/Headquarters Platoon Commander in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Once he returned, he assumed duties as a Battery Executive Officer and Guns Platoon Commander for Battery B. In February 2007 he deployed with 1st Battalion, 12th Marines designated as Task Force Military Police 1/12 as the Battery B, Executive Officer/Detention Operations Officer in charge in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in Anbar Province, Iraq. During this deployment to Iraq he was promoted to Captain.
In December 2007, Major Lemons transferred to 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) as a joint terminal attack controller in Camp Pendleton, CA. He once again deployed in support of OIF in Anbar Province in March 2008 as a Fire Power Control Team Leader and Brigade Platoon Fire Support Officer. In January 2010, he deployed again in support of OEF as a Supporting Arms Liaison Team Leader supporting the 1/1/205 Afghan National Army Kandak and the 4-23d Infantry Stryker Battalion (United States Army) during OPERATION MOSTARAK in Marjah, Afghanistan and subsequently the 31st Georgian Infantry Battalion in Nimruz Province. Upon his return in July 2010, Major Lemons attended Expeditionary Warfare School resident course in Quantico, VA.
In June 2011, Major Lemons transferred to 3d Battalion, 10th Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC. He immediately deployed with Regimental Combat Team 8 as the Current Operations Officer in support of OEF in Nimruz Province in July 2011. Upon his return, he assumed command of Battery K, 3d Battalion, 10th Marines. Upon relinquishing command, he assumed duties as the 8th Marines Assistant Fire Support Coordinator. In 2013, he deployed on a Security Force Assistance Advisor Team with the Operations Coordination Center-Regional (OCC-R) as the Fires and Operations Advisor to Afghan security forces during another OEF deployment to Helmand Province. During this deployment to Afghanistan, he was promoted to Major. Upon his return, he was the 10th Marines Assistant Operations Officer.
In June 2014, Major Lemons transferred to the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA for duty as a Faculty Advisor until August 2016. In 2016-2017 Major Lemons attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College resident course in Quantico, VA.
In May 2017, Major Lemons then transferred to the 11th Marine Regiment in Camp Pendleton, CA, and subsequently served as the 1st Marine Division Assistant Fire Support Coordinator. In June 2017, he then transferred to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines, to serve in his current billet as the Executive Officer.
Major Lemons’ personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with gold stars in lieu of 4th award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Major Lemons is a graduate of the following schools: The University of Houston, BS in Kinesiology-Exercise Science, Expeditionary Warfare School, USMC Command and Staff College with a Master of Military Science degree, and the U.S Army Basic Airborne Course.
