Commanding Officer, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment
Lieutenant Colonel Bart P. Lambert

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol) Lambert enlisted in the Marine Corps on 3 June 1991 from Houston, Texas.  His formal military education includes The Basic School, Infantry Officers Course, Basic Reconnaissance Course, Marine Combatant Dive School, Military Free Fall School, Multi-Mission Parachute Course, Military Free Fall Jumpmaster, Expeditionary Warfare School, and Command and Staff.

From 1991 to 1995, LtCol Lambert served as a mortarman with Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines and deployed to Okinawa in support of Unit Deployment Program and as a member of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Capable (MEUSOC).

From 1996 to 2001, LtCol Lambert served as a Reconnaissance Marine, 1st Force Reconnaissance Company.  He deployed with the 11th and 13th MEUSOC supporting Operations in Kuwait, Eretria, Jordan, East Timor, and Yemen (USS Cole).

From 2001 to 2003, LtCol Lambert served as a high-risk instructor at the Marine Combat Diver course in Panama City, Florida teaching the MK-25 Mod 2 phase.

From 2003 to 2005, LtCol Lambert completed the Officer Candidate School and the Meritorious Commissioning Program. 

From 2005 to 2007, LtCol Lambert served as the Assistant Operations Officer (S-3A) and deployed in support of the 11th MEU and as a Combined Anti-Armor Team Platoon Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was assigned Battle Position Da Nang and six villages within an Al Quaim Battle Space.

From 2008 to 2010, LtCol Lambert served as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Basic Reconnaissance Course, School of Infantry-West. 

From 2010 to 2013, LtCol Lambert served at the Force Reconnaissance Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.  As a Platoon Commander he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Upon return from deployment, he assumed duties as the Company Commander.

From 2014 to 2016, LtCol Lambert served as the Reconnaissance Capabilities Integration Officer at Combat Development and Integration.  He managed two Marine Corps Programming Codes for Underwater Reconnaissance Capability and Airborne Reconnaissance Equipment.  In this capacity he conducted capability development for nighttime opposed Visit Board Search and Seizure.

From 2016 to 2019, LtCol Lambert served as OIC, Special Training Branch, Expeditionary Operations Training Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) training the Maritime Raid Force for I MEF MEUs.

From 2019 to 2020, LtCol Lambert served as Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines and deployed in support of the 31st MEU.

From 2020 to 2021, LtCol Lambert served as Section Head, Future Operations, Manpower Plans and Policy, Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

LtCol Lambert’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two Gold Stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one Gold Star), the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement medal (V and Gold Star), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
