Lt. Col. Brad E. Whited Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines

Lieutenant Colonel Whited is a native of Parkersburg, West Virginia. He holds his Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from West Virginia University. Lieutenant Colonel Whited was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in February 2002 through Officers Candidate School and upon completion of The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course, he was assigned to Company F, 2d Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC.

 

While serving in 2d Battalion, 6th Marines from 2003 to 2006, Lieutenant Whited served as a platoon commander and company executive officer.  During this time, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program and then on a subsequent deployment participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Fallujah, Iraq.

 

Lieutenant Whited executed orders to Special Operations Training Group, Okinawa, Japan where he was promoted to Captain, and served as the Assistant Branch Head to Special Missions Branch and then as the Assistant Operations Officer from 2006 to 2008. During this time, Captain Whited deployed to Baghdad, Iraq where he served as schools and training advisor for Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq.

 

In 2009, Captain Whited graduated the Maneuver Captains Career Course in Fort Benning, GA and then deployed with Regimental Combat Team 7 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom. He served as senior watch officer, current operations officer, and Marjah Cell officer-in-charge.  Upon redeployment in 2010, Captain Whited reported to 3d Battalion, 1st Marines and took command of Weapons Company where he deployed with the battalion as part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. After returning from deployment, Captain Whited was promoted to major and served as the battalion operations officer and executive officer from 2012 to 2013.

 

Major Whited executed orders to Quantico, VA in 2013 to serve as the Deputy of the Enlisted Retention Section, Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments.  In 2015, he executed orders to Marine Barracks 8th and I, Washington D.C and served as Security Force Company Commander. In 2018, Major Whited executed orders to Twentynine Palms, CA, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and served as the Future Operations Officer and Deputy Director for Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group.
