Commanding Officer, 3d Battalion, 11th Marines
Lt. Col. Peter F. Priester

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Priester graduated from The Basic School in October 2002 and reported to Marine Detachment, Fort Sill to attend the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course.  Upon graduation from FAOBC in April 2003, he reported to 3d Battalion, 10th Marines.  In November 2003, he deployed to Afghanistan as the Forward Observer for Company G, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines.  In April 2005, Lieutenant Colonel Priester deployed as the Fire Direction Officer and Headquarters Platoon Commander for Battery I, Battalion Landing Team 2d Battalion, 8th Marines, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable).  Upon returning from deployment on the 26th MEU, Lieutenant Colonel Priester assumed the duties of Battery XO, India Battery, 3d Battalion, 10th Marines. 

In July 2007, Lieutenant Colonel Priester reported to 1st Air/Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) and deployed as a Firepower Control Team leader to Iraq in March 2008.  Upon redeployment, he became the S-3A for 1st ANGLICO until June 2009.

In July 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Priester reported to Expeditionary Warfare School, and upon graduation reported to 3d Battalion, 11th Marines and assumed command of India Battery.  In January 2011, he deployed with India Battery, Battalion Landing Team 2d Battalion, 5th Marines on the 31st MEU.  Upon his redeployment in June 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Priester assumed the duties of Operations Officer for 3d Battalion, 11th Marines.  He held this billet until May 2012 when he attached to Regimental Combat Team 7 (RCT-7) as the Fire Support Coordinator.  Lieutenant Colonel Priester deployed with RCT-7 from August 2012 to August 2013 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan.    

From December 2013 to June 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Priester studied Financial Management at Naval Postgraduate School and upon graduating earned a Master’s degree of Business Administration.

In July 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Priester reported to Deputy Commandant, Programs and Resources as a program analyst for the Warfighting & Investments and Operating Forces portfolios during Program Objective Memorandum (POM)-18, POM-18 Revised Submission, and POM-19.1. 

In July 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Priester reported to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines as the Operations Officer until assuming the duties of Executive Officer in December, 2017.  In April 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Priester moved to 10th Marines Regiment, where he served as the Regimental Operations Officer until June of 2019.

LtCol Priester is currently the Commanding Officer of 3d Battalion, 11th Marines, taking command on 6 June 2019.

Lieutenant Colonel Priester and his wife, the former Jacqueline Holst, have one son, Peter and one daughter, Jane.
