Sgt. Maj. Robert D. Thielen, 47, sergeant major, Regimental Combat Team 5, takes the traditional first bite of cake at the regimentâ??s 233rd Marine Corps birthday ceremony at Camp Ripper, Iraq, Nov. 10. Thielen, who was the oldest Marine present, then passed a piece of cake to Cpl. Blake R. Smith (left), 19, motor transportation officer, RCT-5 who was the youngest Marine present. This part of the ceremony symbolizes the passing of traditions from the older Marines to the younger Marines.
