Marines with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, conduct machine gun target engagement during live-fire training aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 11, 2016. During the training, Marines fired an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, which provides Marine fire teams the ability to quickly gain and maintain fire superiority, and M240 medium machine guns, which provide higher sustained rates of fire and longer effective range.
