A Marine with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion loads an M240 machine gun during a live-fire range aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 6, 2014. The range was part of an eight-day machine gunners course. During the course, Marines learned the characteristics and the effective implementation of four weapon systems. The practical skills Marines learn during the course help enable them to be effective under a variety of combat scenarios.
