Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James Amos, addresses Marines with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, here, June 19, 2013. Amos addressed several issues including the state of the Marine Corps, the war in Afghanistan and the effects of sequestration. "As the drawdown continues, there will be fewer Marines in (Afghanistan) than there are now," Amos said. "That means we'll have more Marines to put back in the Pacific--not that we ever left--but it's time to return to our roots as a service."
