Most of the Marines with GLT have more than one job due to the nature of the mission and size of the unit, but Strickler has four daily responsibilities. A 23-year-old native of Philadelphia, Stickler is also an ammunition technician, mail clerk, and a vehicle commander. "He has the perfect mentality to handle four different tasks and different sections all at once," said Staff Sgt. Jose Soto, the supply and logistics chief with GLT. "He knows what has to be done and doesn't let his other responsibilities suffer because of another." Fellow Marines describe Strickler as a good noncommissioned officer who upholds strong standards and is good at counseling his peers and subordinates. The NCO has long been called the "backbone of the Corps" and Soto said Strickler is no exception. "If you can name it, he's done it," Soto said. "No matter what we ask him to do, he's always up for it." Strickler is always uplifting the warriors around him with his positive attitude or jokes, Soto said.
