CARLSBAD, Calif. – Major General Ronald Bailey, the 1st Marine Division commanding general, cuts a birthday cake during a dinner in celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the 1st Marine Division at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., Feb. 1, 2013. The cake featured a picture of the division logo, a blue diamond with the word Guadalcanal, a brutal and decisive battle during World War II where the Division served with distinction.
