Colonel A. E. “Sparky†Renforth, Regimental Combat Team7 commanding officer, uses binoculars to view the Helmand River Valley during a battlefield tour, Jan. 29, here. Renforth and Sgt. Maj. Scott Samuels, the RCT-7 sergeant major, visited soldiers with the 12th Georgian Battalion. Renforth encouraged the Georgians to continue mentoring the Afghan National Security Force and thanked them for their dedicated service. During the trip, the Georgian soldiers took the leaders to a local observation post to give them a better view of the battlefield.
