U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Kowshon Ye, Headquarters Company, Regimental Combat Team 7, practices using a metal detector during the practical application portion of an improvised explosive device (IED) detection class at Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Afghanistan, Oct. 15, 2012. The class was part of counter IED training which familiarized the Marines with fundamentals to include: unexploded ordnance recognition, enemy tactics, homemade explosives, threat detection, ground signs awareness, and downed vehicle procedures.
