CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Lance Cpl. Dominic E. Schraft, 19, of Vienna, Missouri, assigned to 1st Marine Division was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head at approximately 6 a.m. Oct. 5 at Marksmanship Training Range 214 on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
Schraft was assigned to Battery R, 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He joined the Marine Corps in August 2014 and served as a field radio operator.
Schraft never deployed during his career in the Marine Corps.
His awards include the National Defense Service medal and Global War on Terrorism Service medal.
This incident is currently under investigation, no further details are available at this time.
