Last Marine Infantry Regimental Headquarters Prepares to Leave Afghanistan

Due to the transfer of lead security responsibility to the Afghan National Security Forces, Regimental Combat Team 7 will leave Helmand province in August as the last Marine infantry regimental headquarters to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The regiment deployed here from Twentynine Palms, Calif. in October and assumed responsibility as the headquarters for all ground combat units throughout Regional Command Southwest.  For more information on the regiment’s deployment, please see following story:<b> <a href=""></a>.</b>

The regimental colors will be cased July 31. Video and photos of the ceremony will be available shortly after its conclusion via the RCT-7 DVIDS page:<b>  <a href=""></a>. </b>

Phone interviews with the commanding officer, staff and Marines of RCT-7 will be available to the media over the next several weeks.  Video interviews will also be posted to the RCT-7 DVIDS page.
