SgtMaj Charlie H. Clawson

Sergeant Major Charlie H. Clawson was born in Alexandria, Virginia on September 23, 1977. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in March
of 1996 and reported to Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, in
August of 1996. Upon graduating from recruit training, he reported to Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry, Marine Corps Base,
Camp Lejeune North Carolina. After completing Marine Combat Training, he reported to Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, for duty as a
student in Motor Transport Instruction Company in January 1997.

In March 1997, Private First Class Clawson reported to 3rd Support Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group, Okinawa Japan. He
was assigned to Motor Transport Company, 1st Platoon as a Motor Vehicle Operator. During this assignment he held the billet of a fire
team leader and Line Non Commissioned Officer. He deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Capable
where he participated in Exercise TANDEM THRUST.

In April of 1998, Lance Corporal Clawson received orders to Headquarters Battalion- Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall,
Arlington, Virginia, where he was assigned to the Motor Transport Platoon. He held the following billets: Motor Vehicle Operator, Chief
Dispatcher, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Chief and Non Commissioned Officer in Charge for Headquarters Battalion- Headquarters
Marine Corps Corporal's Course. Sergeant Clawson was assigned as Senator John McCain's driver and General Krulak's driver. He
was the Non Commissioned Officer in Charge for the former Commandant General Chapman's funeral procession. He was also the Non
Commissioned Officer in Charge for several General Officers and Sergeant Major Symposiums.

In November 2001, Sergeant Clawson reported to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Headquarters & Service Battalion, Headquarters Company
4th Force Service Support Group in Marietta, Georgia. He held the following billets: Battalion Motor Transport Operations Chief,
Battalion License Examiner, Battalion Hazmat Chief and Battalion Chief Martial Arts Instructor Trainer. In 2003, Sergeant Clawson
volunteered to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with 7th Marine Regiment. He served as a Motor Transport Chief,
Machine Gunner and on the Personal Security Detachment for the Regimental Commander.

In August of 2005, Staff Sergeant Clawson received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego California for Recruiter School.
Upon graduation, he was assigned to Recruiting Station Frederick Maryland., Sub-Station Rockville Maryland as a canvassing Recruiter.

In April 2007, Staff Sergeant Clawson received orders to The Basic School Quantico, Virginia. While serving with the Motor Transport
Operations Platoon, he was assigned as the Operations Chief, Truckmaster, and Roadmaster. In March of 2008, Staff Sergeant
Clawson was assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Charlie Company (3-08) and Alpha Company (1-09). In May of 2009
Staff Sergeant Clawson was transferred back to the Motor Transport Operations Platoon and assigned as the Operations Chief.

In June of 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Clawson reported to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion for Duty as a Motor Transport
Operations Chief. During his tour at 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Gunnery Sergeant Clawson was the acting First
Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company for over a year.

In June 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Clawson reported to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Norfolk, Virginia, for duty as the Motor
Transport Chief. He was frocked to First Sergeant on February 27, 2014 and given orders to Battery Golf, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines,
where he served as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.

In March 2014, First Sergeant Clawson reported to Battery Golf, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines, Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he was the
Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.

In April 2017, First Sergeant Clawson received orders to The Basic School Quantico, Virginia. He was assigned as the Company First
Sergeant for Delta Company (4-17) and India Company (1-18). On May 25, 2018, he was frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major.

In July of 2018, he reported to Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico, Virginia, and serve as the Installation Sergeant Major providing
services to support the operations of the Presidential Squadron Marine Helicopter Squadron One.

In May 2020, Sergeant Major Clawson reported to his current billet as the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Clawson's Civilian education includes a Doctorate Degree in Strategic Leadership from Liberty University, Master of
Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint
John's University.

Sergeant Major Clawson's personal decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal
with four gold stars in lieu of fifth award, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold
stars in lieu of forth award, Combat Action Ribbon.
