FARAH PROVINCE, Delaram, Afghanistan -- U.S. Marines assigned to Weapons Company, Task Force 2d Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Afghanistan, fire a mortar round during combat operations here.  Through the use of mortars, Marines provide indirect fire support for the ground troops, thereby extending their combat capability while serving in one of Afghanistan’s most austere and remote areas.  Operating throughout the Helmand and Farah provinces in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, TF 2/7 is tasked with the mission of conducting counterinsurgency operations with a focus on police mentoring of Afghan National Police.
