Executive Officer, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines
Maj Jason Patrick

Major Jason Patrick originally entered the Marine Corps in June 1995, and served as an enlisted infantryman (0311), in 2d Battalion, 3d Marines (V23) from 1996-2000 before pursuing a commission as an officer. Concluding enlisted service as a staff sergeant, Major Patrick earned a commission through the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program in 2003 where he graduated with two baccalaureate degrees in History and Philosophy from the University of Houston.
Upon graduation from The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, Major Patrick was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines (V16) from 2004-2007. During this tour with V16 Major Patrick served as a platoon commander, and company commander while deployed twice during combat operations in Al Fallujah and Ar Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.


After leaving V16, Major Patrick was assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego from 2007-2010. During this period, Major Patrick served as a series commander and company commander. After completing a successful tour on the drill field; making Marines and leading drill instructors, Major Patrick was competitively selected for, and graduated from resident Expeditionary Warfare School for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Upon early graduation from EWS, Major Patrick was assigned to 2d Battalion, 4th Marines (V24) as a company commander from 2011-2012. Major Patrick deployed with V24 during combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan from 2011-2012 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Following a successful combat tour as a company commander with V24, Major Patrick was competitively selected to serve as an Aide-de-Camp at I Marine Expeditionary Force Command Element (I MEF CE). Major Patrick served as an Aide-de-Camp at I MEF CE for twenty three months from 2012-2014.

 
Following a long tour as an Aide-de-Camp, Major Patrick served as an assistant plans officer in the I MEF G5 – Plans Directorate; planning the Marine Corps largest exercise of 2014, Large Scale Exercise – 14 (LSE–14). During this period, Major Patrick was competitively selected for, and then graduated from resident Command and Staff College (CSC) with a Masters in Military Studies from Marine Corps University during the 2014-2015 academic year.


Upon graduation from CSC, Major Patrick was assigned to Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) in Norfolk, Virginia as a resident student in the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS). Upon graduation from JCWS, Major Patrick was assigned to joint-duty with Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR); in Stuttgart, Germany. Major Patrick served as a Division Chief in the SOCEUR J5 – Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate conducting joint special operations strategic planning from 2015-2018 as the Director of the Joint Force Commander’s Action Group (CAG).

 
Major Patrick reported for his current duties as Executive Officer, 3d Battalion, 5th Marines (V35); and Battalion Landing Team 3/5 in July 2018.
