LtCol Hunt is from Robinson, Texas and was commissioned in December 2000 through the Platoon Leaders Course while attending Texas A&M University. After graduating from The Basic School and Infantry Officer’s Course, LtCol Hunt reported to 3d Battalion, 8th Marines. Following this operational tour, LtCol Hunt received orders to II MEF Headquarters Group and was subsequently assigned to Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC).
Upon completion of his tour at MARSOC, LtCol Hunt attended Expeditionary Warfare School and then reported to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines where he served as a Rifle and Weapons Company Commander. Post-Company command, LtCol Hunt received orders to Recruiting Station Pittsburgh to serve as the Recruiting Station Commanding Officer.
Following his assignment on recruiting duty, LtCol Hunt attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College and earned his Masters Degree in Military Studies. LtCol Hunt then reported to 3d Battalion, 5th Marines where he served as the Battalion Executive Officer. Upon completion of this tour, LtCol Hunt was next assigned to 1st Marine Division where he first assumed duties as a Division Planner and then as the Division Training Officer. LtCol Hunt assumed his current duties as the Commanding Officer of 2d Battalion, 1st Marines on 8 September 2017.
LtCol Hunt’s personal decorations are: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (x2), Navy Achievement Medal (x2, x1 with combat distinguishing device), the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon (x2).
LtCol Hunt is married, has two sons, and currently resides in Oceanside, CA.
