Captain William F. Dufresne

Captain Dufresne was commissioned from Officer Candidate’s School in August 2007 following his graduation from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a degree in Administration of Justice. Upon graduating The Basic School, Captain Dufresne attended Assault Amphibian Officer’s Course at Camp Pendleton, California. As the Honor Graduate, he earned the MOS of 1803, Assault Amphibious Vehicle Officer, in June 2008.  Upon graduation he received orders to Combat Assault Company, 3d Marine Regiment in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Captain Dufresne reported for duty as the AAV platoon commander of Combat Assault Company, 3d Marine Regiment in June 2008 where he conducted numerous training exercises and Exercise RIMPAC 2008.  In 2009, Captain Dufresne deployed with Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7 as an Embedded Training Team leader with ETT 5-5 to RC East, Afghanistan. Following promotion to First Lieutenant, Captain Dufresne returned to Kaneohe Bay in May 2010 to serve as executive officer and commanding officer of Combat Assault Company. 

Upon checking into Marine Corps Security Force Regiment in 2011, Captain Dufresne was assigned to Alpha FAST Company, serving as platoon commander of three FAST platoons.  Captain Dufresne completed two deployments and two nuclear fuel security missions as a platoon commander. Captain Dufresne redeployed in 2013 and assumed duties as commanding officer of Alpha FAST Company.  He served in this role until 2014 when he changed command and served as executive officer.

Captain Dufresne completed Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in Ft Benning, Georgia, in 2014 and attended US Army Airborne School.

Captain Dufresne assumed command of Delta Company, 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division in March 2015.

Captain Dufresne’s personal awards include the Combat Action Ribbon and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
