Sergeant Major, 1st Marine Regiment
SgtMaj M.T. Escobar

SgtMaj Escobar was born in Berea, SC and reported to MCRD Parris Island for basic training in March 2000. Upon graduating
from MCRD and completing MCT he reported to Towed Artillery Technician School at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. Upon
completion, he reported to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines, Battery G, Camp Lejeune in November 2000. He participated in various training
exercises and deployed to Zaragoza, Spain in support of Dynamic Mix. SgtMaj Escobar received orders to Marine Security Guard
School in January 2004.

SgtMaj Escobar graduated from MSG school and was assigned to American Embassy Tegucigalpa, Honduras. In July 2004 he was assigned to American Embassy San Jose, Costa Rica where he served as the Assistant Detachment Commander. He was attached
to a personal security team for former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Dakar, Senegal. In July 2006, he received orders to 1st
Battalion, 12th Marines Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. SgtMaj Escobar served as the Battalion Ordnance Chief and deployed to Iraq in March
2007 under Task Force Military Police 1/12. He served as the Platoon Sgt for the Ordnance Platoon. He redeployed to Iraq, again with
Task Force Military Police 1/12, in September 2008. He was attached to convoy security operations and was the Liaison Officer for
Combat Outpost's Korean Village, Waleed, and Trebil. Upon return from deployment, he received orders and reported to Recruiter's
School in September 2009.

SgtMaj Escobar was assigned as a canvassing recruiter to RSS Clovis, CA. In March 2011 he was appointed as the SNCOIC
for RSS Fresno, CA. His Marines earned the award for Standard Recruiting Station of the Year, RS Sacramento 2012. In September
2012 he received orders to 1st Maintenance Battalion, Camp Pendleton. SgtMaj Escobar reported to Ordnance Maintenance Company
and served as the Artillery Section SNCOIC and Company Gunnery Sergeant. In November 2013, he attached to CLB 7 and deployed to
Afghanistan and directly supported 5th Battalion, 11th Marines hybrid artillery battery. He served as the Combat Logistics Company
Ordnance OIC. SgtMaj Escobar received orders and was assigned as a Faculty Advisor, Career Course, at the SNCO Academy Camp
Pendleton.

In February 2016 he received orders to 1st Tank Battalion, Twentynine Palms where he served as 1stSgt for Company B and
then received PCA orders to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines in November 2016. He trained and deployed with Company G to Kuwait, Iraq,
and Syria as the Crisis Response Company. Upon return from, deployment he transferred to H&S Company where he continued to
enforce good order and discipline. He then received orders to 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion where he served as the 1stSgt for
Battery A and H&S Battery.

SgtMaj Escobar was promoted to his current rank and assumed the duties as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major for RS Ft
Lauderdale, FL. SgtMaj Escobar served as Marine Corps Recruiting School Sergeant Major aboard MCRD, San Diego, CA.
