Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines
Lieutenant Colonel M. Perry

Lieutenant Colonel Matt Perry is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a 2008 graduate of Louisiana State University. He was commissioned in 2008 through the Officer Candidate Course Program.

Upon completion of The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines (3/7) from 2009 to 2012. While at 3/7, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, deploying twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

From 2012 to 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion. During this time, he initially served as a Force Reconnaissance Platoon Commander before assuming command of Force Company in 2014. While stationed in Okinawa, he completed numerous security cooperation exercises throughout the Pacific Area of Operations.

From 2016 to 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as the Operations Officer of 2d Reconnaissance Battalion. From 2017 to 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was reassigned to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he served as the Inspector Instructor and Company Commander of Delta Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion.

In 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to Marine Corps Recruiting Command, where he served as the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Baton Rouge.

In 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he initially served as the Executive Officer of 3d Battalion, 2d Marines and following his promotion to his current rank, the Operations Officer of 2d Marine Regiment.
