Sergeant Major Crumpton was born October 15, 1981 and is a native of Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 13 July 2000 and reported to recruit training, MCRD, San Diego, CA for training. Upon Graduation in October of 2000 he was assigned to Marine Combat Training (MCT), Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon Completion of Marine Combat Training in December of 2000, Sergeant Major Crumpton was assigned to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training at Marine Corps Air Station (FREST), Camp Pendleton, CA for AH-1W and UH-1N Power Trains, Rotors, and related courses. Upon successful completion of courses, he was assigned the Marine Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 6114.
In February 2001, Sergeant Major Crumpton was assigned to Naval Weapons Stations VX-9 China Lake. There he served as a Flightline Mechanic, AH-1W Plane Captain, and Collateral Duty Inspector. He was promoted through the ranks and performed duties as Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative and Vibration Analysis Operator.
In December 2004, Sergeant Major requested orders for Drill Instructor Duty at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Upon successful completion of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion Co M in the MOS of 8511/0911. He served as a Green Belt Instructor for five cycles and Senior Drill instructor for two cycles.
In March 2008, Sergeant Major Crumpton was assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 (HMLA-369) Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, CA where he performed duties as a Flight Line Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge and Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative for AH-1W and UH-1N Helicopters. In September 2008 he deployed to Al Taqaddum, Iraq and Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)-792 and -091. In April 2010, Sergeant Major Crumpton deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF 1-0 and was assigned to HMLA-369 Maintenance Control. In October 2011 Sergeant Major Crumpton deployed again to Afghanistan with HMLA-369 in support of OEF-121.
In January 2013, Sergeant Major Crumpton received orders to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 (HMLA-T 303), Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, CA where he performed the duties as Flightline Division Chief, Quality Assurance Chief, and Equal Opportunity Representative. In July 2016, Sergeant Major Crumpton reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 775 (HMLA-775) Marine Aircraft Group 41, Camp Pendleton, CA as the Flightline Division Chief for the re-activation of the squadron.
On 1 February 2017 Sergeant Major Crumpton was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and executed orders to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, Twenty Nine Palm, CA. where he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Company K. In April 2017, Sergeant Major Crumpton deployed to Australia in support of Marine Rotational Force Darwin (MRF-D). Upon return from deployment Sergeant Major Crumpton immediately began preparation for a combat deployment to CENTCOM in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force. In September 2018 he deployed and returned April 2019. In June 2019 Sergeant Major Crumpton reported for duty at MCRD San Diego where he performed the duties of Company First Sergeant for Company “C”. In May 2019 Sergeant Major Crumpton was selected to be the Drill Instructor School First Sergeant at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA.
On 12 January 2022 Sergeant Major Crumpton was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and received orders to 2d Battalion, 4th Marines.
Sergeant Major Crumpton’s personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal Gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal Gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three Gold Stars in lieu of fourth award.
Sergeant Major Crumpton is married to his wife Leslie Reveles from Dallas, Tx. He has three sons, Chase Crumpton, King Crumpton, and Cameron Crumpton whom reside in Southern California.
