Executive Officer, 1st Tank Battalion
Maj. Mark Nostro

Major Nostro is a native of Laurel, Maryland.  He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2005 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  Following his commissioning he attended The Basic School and the Armor Officer Basic Course.  After his initial training, Major Nostro reported to 1st Tank Battalion in June 2006.  While there he served as a tank platoon commander, tank company executive officer, and scout platoon commander. 

 

    In June 2009 Major Nostro transferred to The Basic School for duty as an instructor.  While there he was a primary instructor in the weapons package, a Staff Platoon Commander in two student companies, and the director of the Instructor Education Program. 

 

    In 2012 He departed TBS and attended the Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning.  Upon graduation he reported to 2d Tank Battalion.  While assigned to 2d Tanks, Major Nostro commanded Company A.  He also deployed to the United Arab Emirates as an advisor to the UAE Presidential Guard.

 

    Following this tour Major Nostro reported to the Naval War College where he completed both the College of Naval Command and Staff and the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School. 

 

    Major Nostro subsequently reported to Marine Corps Forces, Europe and Africa where he served as a plans officer, representing the U.S. Marine Corps in the development of EUCOM and NATO contingency plans.  In July 2019 Major Nostro transferred to 1st Tank Battalion to serve as the Executive Officer.
