Lieutenant Colonel Caleb Hyatt

Lieutenant Colonel Hyatt is a native of Tamarac, FL. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2001 after graduating from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

 

Following The Basic School and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Lieutenant Hyatt was assigned to Battery S, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC, in August 2002. From November 2002 to June 2003, he deployed as Artillery Forward Observer with Battery S to Okinawa, Japan, as part of the Unit Deployment Program. He deployed again with Battery S in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM II from August 2004 to March 2005, serving as the Executive Officer for a provisional rifle company attached to the 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

 

In June 2005, Lieutenant Hyatt reported to the 2d Force Service Support Group (FSSG) as the Group Fire Support Officer and G-3 Training Officer. His duties included instructing personnel on fire support planning and execution, training units for deployment to Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, and serving as officer-in-charge of 2d FSSG’s combat skills training schools. During this tour, Captain Hyatt deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 06-08 from January 2007 to February 2008, serving as Group Fire Support Officer and assistant G-3 Current Operations Officer.

 

After his tour with 2d FSSG, Captain Hyatt attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA, from July 2008 to May 2009. He then executed orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, where he served as Battery Commander, Headquarters Battery, from May 2009 to April 2010. In April 2010, he assumed duties as Battery Commander, Battery R, and deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 11.2 from July 2011 to February 2012, assigned to the composite artillery battalion in general support of 2d Marine Division (Forward) throughout Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

 

After his tour with 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, Major Hyatt attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, KS, from July 2012 to June 2013. He subsequently graduated from the School of Advanced Military Studies in May 2014 and served as the G-3 Plans Officer, 2d Marine Division, from June 2014 to June 2016. In June 2016, he reported for duty as the Operations Officer, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Hyatt then served as the Operations Officer, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, from January 2017 to May 2018, including predeployment training and certification, Defense Support to Civil Authorities in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and deployment to the Europe and Middle East to provide a forward expeditionary naval presence and support named operations, maritime security, crisis response, and theater security cooperation.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Hyatt holds Masters Degrees in Management and Military Art and Science. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with combat distinguishing device, and Combat Action Ribbon.
