Lieutenant Colonel Rush

Lieutenant Colonel Rush is a graduate of the State University College at Buffalo and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1992.  In January 1995 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and following The Basic School, he was assigned as an Armor Officer and attended the U. S. Army Armor Officer Basic Course and Scout Platoon Leader Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  After graduation, he reported for duty to 2D Tank Battalion, 2D Marine Division in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served in a variety of billets, including: Tank Platoon Commander, Tank Detachment Commander for the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Company Commander.


From June 1999 to July 2002, Lieutenant Colonel Rush was assigned to U.S. Army Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky where he served in billets as Commanding Officer of the Armor Officer Basic Course and Commanding Officer of the Marine Training Company, Marine Corps Detachment.


Following the completion of Expeditionary Warfare School in May of 2003, he was assigned to the Officer Candidates School as the Commanding Officer of India Company and was then transferred to 8th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division for duty as Inspector-Instructor and Commanding Officer of Company B, Syracuse, New York where he was twice deployed in support of the Operation Iraqi Freedom.  During this assignment, the unit was re-designated as Company E, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served in the same capacity.


During the summer of 2006, He reported for duty to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms, California where he served as the Battalion Executive Officer before deploying as the Current Operations Officer, Joint Operations Center, Multi-National Corps-Iraq.  Lieutenant Colonel Rush returned from deployment in 2007 and assumed the duties as Commanding Officer of 1st Tank Battalion.


In June of 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Rush reported to the First Marine Corps District and assumed the duties as the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Springfield, MA.  Lieutenant Colonel Rush was transferred to the Ground Combat Element Branch, Plans, Policies and Operations, Headquarters Marine Corps in July of 2011 where he served in the billets of Tank Advocate, Armor Occupational Field Sponsor and GCE Branch Head.


Lieutenant Colonel Rush's personal decorations include:  Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
