Major Hart was raised in Tualatin, Oregon, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1996. As a sergeant, he deployed as a squad leader with Engineer Support Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion from Battle Creek, Michigan in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in 2003. He commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Platoon Leaders Course in 2004, and was assigned as a Field Artillery Officer upon graduation from The Basic School and Field Artillery Officer Basic Course in 2005.
Major Hart had the privilege to command, 1st Platoon, Battery K 3/12, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, Task Force Military Police 1/12 (2006-2007); Security Force Company, Regimental Combat Team-7 (2012-2013); Battery F, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines (2013-2014); and, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Lansing (2016-2019).
Major Hart's previous assignments include Forward Observer, Company F, Battalion Landing Team 2/5 (2005-2006); Executive Officer, Battery K 3/12 (2007-2008); Target Information Officer and Assistant Operations Officer, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (2008-2009); Executive Officer, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Detroit (2009-2012); Advisor Team Officer-in-Charge (2012); and, Assistant Fire Support Coordinator, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines in direct support of 5th Marines (2014-2015).
Major Hart holds a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University (2004) and Master's degree from Marine Corps Command and Staff College (2016). His operational experience includes Operation IRAQI FREEDOM I and 06-08 (Iraq: 2003 and 2007), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (2005-2006), WESTPAC 08-02 (2008), and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (Afghanistan: 2012-2013).
Major Hart is married and has three children.
