Maj. Nicholas S. Gregson

Nic Gregson, of Camp Pendleton Ca, was commissioned after graduating from West Chester University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He subsequently graduated from The Basic School with Fox Company 2005 and attended the Basic Officer Leader Course- Field Artillery in Fort Sill, OK, graduating in August 2006.  Following these schools, he reported to Battery C, 1st Battalion, 10th Marines.

Upon reporting to Battery C, Second Lieutenant Gregson served as a Forward Observer during home station artillery training. Subsequently, he was assigned   to Task Force Military Police where First Lieutenant Gregson served as a Platoon Commander for Second Platoon, Battery C, TFMP, during Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.2. During this deployment, First Lieutenant Gregson completed a variety of missions in support of combat operations.  After this deployment, First Lieutenant Gregson returned to Camp Lejeune, completed the M777 New Equipment Training Team course, and was assigned as the Officer in Charge, District Police Transition Team-6 (Habbaniyah) and subsequently deployed in January of 2009. During this deployment, 1st Lieutenant Gregson provided security force assistance to over 1,500 Iraqi Police.

After  returning home, Captain Gregson transitioned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to serve as the Target Information Officer.  During this tour, Captain Gregson provided fires and targeting support to numerous planning exercises, staff planning support to Humanitarian Assistance, flood relief in Pakistan, and served as the Forward Command Element-Djibouti OIC for 5 months.  In January of 2011, BLT 3/8 (-) (rein) was ordered into Afghanistan, Captain Gregson was reassigned and redeployed as the BLT 3/8 Fire Support Officer.

Capt Gregson returned in June 2011, where he was assigned to Expeditionary Warfare School and graduated with honors prior to returning to First Battalion, Tenth Marines, and assumed Command of Battery B in June of 2012.  Under his command, Battery B was the first east coast battery to participate in  a Weapons and Tactics Instructors exercise, executing training in the fall of 2012.   In May of 2013, Captain Gregson was assigned as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for Regimental Combat Team-2 in preparation for their deployment in July 2014, where the RCT-2 fires support personnel were predesignated as the RC-SW Fire Support Coordination Center.    After returning to Camp Lejeune in January of 2014, Captain Gregson went on to serve as the Assistant FSC for 2nd Marine Regiment until June when he assumed command of HQ Battery 1/10.  Captain Gregson subsequently went on to serve as the Battalion S4 until being assigned to the Marine Detachment, Fort Sill Oklahoma in the summer of 2015.

While at Fort Sill, Major Gregson served as the Captain Career Course Instructor, earning Instructor of the Cycle and Instructor of the Quarter honors. Following that, Major Gregson served as the OIC of Enlisted Gunnery and Cannoneer school prior to serving as the Operations Officer.  In June of 2018, Major Gregson was assigned to Command and General Staff College (AY-18-19) in Leavenworth KS.  Upon graduation in June 2019, Major Gregson reported to 1st battalion, 11th Marines as the Battalion S4.  In January of 2020, Major Gregson assumed the duties of Battalion Executive Officer.

Major Gregson has a Masters in Leadership Studies from Marshall University and personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (x3). He is married to Christina Jones of Royersford PA, and has three children Mackenzie, Landon and Dylan.
