Sergeant Major Haber was born 8 July 1984 in Parma, Ohio. He Graduated from Parma Senior High school in 2002 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. His Marine Corps career started at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. He graduated in February of 2003, and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class. He then attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina that same year. He attended Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Defense School in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and received the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 5711 CBRN Defense Specialist.
Private First Class Haber proceeded to MAG-14, Cherry Point, North Carolina for duty as a CBRN Defense Specialist. In January of 2005, he deployed with VMAQ-4 to Al-Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as a Corporal of the Guard. During this tour he was promoted to Lance Corporal and Corporal.
In June of 2006, Corporal Haber volunteered to deploy with VMA-542 on the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he served as the CBRN Defense NCOIC and Squadron MCMAP Instructor. While deployed, he assisted with the noncombat evacuation of the American Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. During this deployment he was promoted to Sergeant.
Upon his return in December 2006, he received orders to 2d Tank Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as the CBRN Chief and Officer In Charge. Sergeant Haber was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in April of 2008.
Staff Sergeant Haber then received orders to Headquarters Battalion, 2d- Marine Division and assumed the duties of Platoon Sergeant and Staff Noncommissioned Officer In Charge (SNCOIC) for the CBRN Defense section.
In February of 2009, Staff Sergeant Haber volunteered to deploy with the 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade to Afghanistan. He served as the G-3 Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Chief in support of North American Treaty Organization (NATO) Operations in Helmand Province for a period for 10 months. While deployed, Staff Sergeant Haber received orders to Marine Security Guard (MSG) School, Quantico, Virginia. Upon his return in February of 2010, he reported to MSG School Class 4-10. Upon graduation in July, Staff Sergeant Haber reported for duty to MSG Detachment Nicosia, Cyprus as the Detachment Commander. In June of 2011, Staff Sergeant Haber was selected to activate Detachment Mumbai, India and in August he arrived to assume the duties as the Detachment Commander. He was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in January of 2012. In March of 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Haber was selected to return to MSG School as an Instructor Advisor where he served as the primary Defensive Tactics and Chemical Munitions Instructor.
In December of 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Haber received orders to Headquarters Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he assumed the duties of CBRN Chief, Training Chief, and Anti-Terrorism Officer. In February of 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Haber was frocked to First Sergeant and assumed duties as the Regimental Headquarters Company, Company First Sergeant. In January of 2016, First Sergeant Haber received orders to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as the Company C, Company First Sergeant. In February of 2017 he deployed with Battalion Landing Team 3/6 on the 24th MEU.
Upon his return from deployment, First Sergeant Haber received orders to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West, Camp Pendleton, California. In February of 2018, he reported for duty as the Company C, Company First Sergeant. In February of 2020, First Sergeant Haber was frocked to Sergeant Major and received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines where he currently serves as the China Marines Sergeant Major.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of 4th award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
