Lieutenant Colonel Regner is from Charleston, SC and earned his commission through the NROTC program in May 2002, following his graduation from The Citadel.
Lieutenant Colonel Regner’s assignments in the Operating Forces include: Rifle Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer with 1st Battalion 6th Marines (2003-2006), participating in Operation MOUNTAIN STORM in Oruzgan and Kandahar Afghanistan with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU(SOC)), and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in Fallujah Iraq; Rifle Company Commander and Weapons Company Commander for 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines, (2010-2013) participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Helmand Afghanistan and the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa and Camp Fuji Japan, and to Camp Mujuk South Korea.
Other assignments include: Experiments Project Officer and Infantry Subject Matter Expert with the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (2006-2009) working on Distributed Operations, Enhanced Company Operations, Combat Hunter, and Corpspedia; Company Commander and Academics Officer with the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School (2013-2015); and as a War Planner focused on Iran with United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT) (2017). He completed a joint assignment at United States Central Command (CENTCOM) (2018-2019) serving as Aide de Camp to the Commander United States Central Command, and as a Strategic War Planner in the Levant Plans Branch focused on the Defeat-ISIS Coalition and strategic planning for Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and Turkey.
Lieutenant Colonel Regner is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Course, Weapons Tactics Instructor Course – Ground Division, The Expeditionary Warfare School, The Fire Support Coordinator Course, The Marine Corps Command and Staff College – College of Distance Education, The School of Advanced Warfighting, and the Joint Professional Military Education II Course. He has earned Master’s Degrees from Capella University and the Marine Corps University.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, Navy Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star.
