Lieutenant Colonel Grayson (LtCol) was born in Ft Walton Beach, Florida and was raised on various Air Force installations in Europe.  He graduated From Piedmont Bible College (1998) with a degree in Theology (Missions) and commissioned in April 2001.

LtCol Grayson served his first fleet tour at 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, where he served as commander of a rifle platoon, weapons platoon and a Combined Anti-Armor Platoon (CAAT). His deployments include a platoon security detachment deployment, a deployment to Okinawa that included three months as a ship security detachment commander in the Persian Gulf and a ten month Marine Expeditionary Unit deployment that included combat operations in Iraq. 

LtCol Grayson left the fleet and served with the Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group, Twenty-Nine Palms, California.  During this assignment, he served as Rifle Company Team Chief, Role Player OIC and Assistant Operations Officer for the Urban Warfare Training Section.  He then attended resident Expeditionary Warfare School during which he also attended and graduated from Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI).

LtCol Grayson served his second fleet tour as both a Rifle and Weapons Company Commander in 2d Battalion 5th Marines. During this tour, he participated in two 31st MEU deployments and a one company (minus) deployment to Afghanistan as training cadre for the Afghan police. During his second MEU deployment, he embedded with the Japanese Self Defense Force during Operation TOMODACHI, military assistance to Japan after the 2011 tsunami.

In November 2011, LtCol Grayson assumed duties as the Inspector Instructor for Charlie Company   (-), 1st Bn 23d Marines. While serving as Inspector Instructor, he supported the preparation and recovery of training teams in both Southern Command and European Command. He then attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College, where he graduated with a Master of Military Studies Degree.

In 2015, LtCol Grayson served as the Executive Officer of Battalion Landing Team 2/1 on the 13th MEU, followed by service as the Operations Officer for Fifth Marine Regiment and Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command, respectively. His personal decorations include the Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
