Letter from your Family Readiness Officer

Hello Families and Friends of 1st Reconnaissance Battalion!

On behalf of the Commanding Officer and our Marines and Sailors, Welcome to the 1st Recon Bn Family Readiness Program.  My name is 1stSgt Gonzalez and it is a pleasure and an honor to serve as the Family Readiness Officer 1st Recon Bn.  I am dedicated to providing you with all of the resources and tools needed to successfully meet the unique challenges of the military lifestyle.

The mission of the Family Readiness Program is to equip our Marines, Sailors, and their families with the tools they need to meet the challenges of military life.  As your Family Readiness Officer, I am here to provide official two-way command communication, information and referral services as well as readiness and deployment support.  Often, during the tough times, the greatest comfort one can have is to know they have someone to turn to for assistance.  During those times, count on your FRO to be there, ready to assist.

Whether you are new to the Marine Corps Family, or have been a family for several years, Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) offers many valuable workshops that will assist you in transitioning into the Marine Corps Family. I  use a wide range of opportunities to share information from emails through Marine Online (MOL) to my primary communication method of eMARINE.

At 1st Recon Bn Family Readiness is one of our Commanders Priorities and I would like to ensure you have access to all the tools to make you successful and make your time with us as rewarding as possible.

1. eMARINE: eMARINE is our main form of communication with Marines/Families.  On the Website you find official communication, as well as what is going on in the Command.  Also, listed are opportunities for social events, education, employment, self-enhancement, etc.  Your Marine needs to add you as a family member on the Website.  If you know your Marines’ Official name, as listed in MOL, and birthday day and month you can request access by going to www.emarine.org, Clicking the blue “Find a Unite site,” and under Camp Pendleton selecting 1st Marine Division > 1st Reconnaissance Battalion (California, UIC: M11060)

2. FACEBOOK: 1st Reconnaissance Battalion continues to have a Facebook page for social purposes.  This page is open to anyone that would like to follow 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.

3. DUTY PHONE: If you have an urgent issue and cannot reach your chain of command, feel free to call the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Officer of the Day for assistance at (760) 725-8805.

4. VOLUNTEERING: 1st Reconnaissance Battalion is always in need of volunteers being actively involved in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion family will no doubt enhance your enjoyment of your time with our Command.  Assisting the Command with feedback, ideas, and events is appreciated and we hope you will join our team!

5. WELCOME ABOARD INFO: Please see eMARINE for the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Welcome Aboard Packet or a CD can be picked up in my office or mailed to you.

Again, welcome aboard and please let me know how I can help empower you and your family!
