Colonel Liszewski was raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990.

Colonel Liszewski’s first tour in the operating forces was with 1st Battalion, 12th Marines (Rein) where he served as a forward observer, fire direction officer, liaison officer, guns platoon commander, executive officer and regimental fire support coordinator for Third Marines.

As a Captain, he served as the fire support officer for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and commanded Battery E, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines from 1998 to 2000.  While serving as a battery commander, he deployed with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable).

While serving as a Major in 5th Battalion, 11th Marines he was the liaison officer, operations officer and executive officer.

Colonel Liszewski returned to Hawaii and commanded 1st Battalion, 12th Marines (Rein) from 2006-2008.  During this time, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines (Rein) deployed to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Other staff assignments have included tours with MARCENT (FWD) G-3, MARFORPAC G-5 (War Plans), and the Joint Staff (J33, JODCENT).

Most recently, he served as the Force Effects Coordinator for I MEF (FWD) in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Colonel Liszewski is a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, The Australian Command and Staff College and the U.S. Naval War College.
