1st Lt. John M. Billiris, platoon commander, 3rd Platoon, Company L, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 5, writes a grid coordinate on a map near Hit, Iraq, July 11. Marines with Company L conducted a reconnaissance patrol of an area added to their area of operations. Billiris made note of all the Iraqi Police stations, checkpoints and business areas. He said the patrol will help Marines in future operations.
