Cpl. Steve R. Vargas, a 22-year-old from Midland, Texas, and Cpl. James C. Nelson, a 23-year-old from East Liverpool, Ohio, both with Military Police Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, put together an M240 machine gun during Exercise Dawn Blitz, aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, Sept. 29. “We’re here to give Marines their sea legs and show them ship life,” said Capt. Kyle E. Larish, the MP company commander. “We are giving them that experience because most of them have never been on a ship. So in the future if they do go aboard a ship for a deployment they are already used to it. They know what they can and can’t do on a ship and the spaces they can train in.”
