Company A, Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducts an amphibious landing by small boat at Dadi Beach, Naval Base Guam, the same landing area that 1st Battalion, 4th Marines landing at during the liberation of Guam in World War II. Company A was tasked with being the Small Boat Raid Company of the 31st MEU during their deployment, and sent Marines to several weeks of rigorous instruction at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group –Pacific, in Coronado, California, to learn the skills needed to carry out this mission. Marines from Company A became highly skilled Small Boat Coxswains, Small Boat and Engine Mechanics, Scout Swimmers and Maritime Navigators, helping the Company become a successful clandestine small boat raid force during deployment.
